carefully choose your password

At an airport, Charles befriends a traveler who claims to have mutual acquaintances. When the traveler asks if he can use his computer to recharge his smartphone, Charles is not suspicious. The stranger has taken the opportunity to exfiltrate data concerning Charles’ highly confidential professional mission.

If you download digital content from untrusted websites, you run the risk of storing non-updatable programs on your computer, most of which contain viruses or Trojan horses*. This can enable malicious persons to take remote control of your machine, spy on your computer’s actions, steal your personal data, launch attacks, etc.

Before leaving on a mission: use only equipment (computer, removable media, telephone) dedicated to the mission, and containing only the necessary data.

  • back up your data so that you can retrieve it in the event of loss;
  • if you plan to work on the road, take along a screen protection filter for your computer;
  • affix a distinctive sign (such as a colored sticker) to your devices to ensure that there has been no exchange during transport;
  • Verify that your passwords are not pre-saved.
